The National Football League champions for 2017 will be decided February 4, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the 52nd NFL Super Bowl.
For American football fans, the Super Bowl is more than just a football game. Thousands of spectators traverse far and wide to witness the game first-hand in the US, while millions around the world watch the broadcast on their TVs for not just the match, but also for the epic television advertisements that get played during the game, as well as the halftime show.
The U.S. Bank Stadium, home to the Minnesota Vikings, will play host this year to Super Bowl LII, as the New England Patriots battle it out against the Philadelphia Eagles to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the glory of being named NFL Champions. This will be the first game to be played at the U.S. Bank Stadium, but Minneapolis is no stranger to the game, having hosted the Super Bowl XXVI in 1992.

Getting to the game
The closest airport to the city of Minneapolis is the Minneapolis St Paul International Airport, where most interstate and international visitors will fly into. St Cloud Regional Airport is also accessible and will be less busy, located roughly 100 kilometres northwest of the Minneapolis city centre. The city will be a buzz of excited and passionate football fans eager to get to the game, so beat the taxi queues and get right into the city as soon as possible with an airport transfer.

The last time the Super Bowl came to a cold-weather city was back in 2014 in New Jersey, and while spectators narrowly missed a snowstorm shortly after the game, visitors to this year’s game won’t be too affected by the elements outside, thanks to the translucent fixed-roof design of the U.S. Bank Stadium that will allow in natural light but keep out any snow.
Minnesotans embrace the cold weather, but if you’re from sunnier regions it’s best to be prepared for bracing cold temperatures – Minneapolis’s average February temperature hovers around -2 degrees Celsius (29 degrees Fahrenheit) with a monthly average snowfall of 8cm, so pack appropriately.
The festival
Minneapolis is hosting more than just a game; it’s going to be a 10-day festival with events held all across the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and state capital Saint Paul) in the lead up to the big match. The festival will feature events – many of them low or no-cost – drawing fans and families all over the city. From outdoor ice bars and snowmobiling to the Super Bowl LIVE music events and Super Bowl Experience Driven by Genesis, there’s no doubt that Minneapolis will be putting on a world-class, unique event with something for everybody to enjoy.

It’s his third appearance at the Super Bowl Halftime stage, and Grammy award-winning Justin Timberlake is set to entertain the crowds again for 2018. The Can’t Stop The Feeling singer is joining an esteemed list of acts who have previously stolen the limelight, including Coldplay, Beyoncé, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Tom Petty, the Rolling Stones and most recently Lady Gaga, who’s halftime performance in 2017 was the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime performance in history, garnering more than 80 million views. JT previously performed in 2001 as a member of *NSYNC, and then in 2004, where he made headlines with fellow performer Janet Jackson.
